Overview
Also known as the BASIC Stamp WAM Kit, this limited time online special
includes the HomeWork Board project platform with a BASIC Stamp 2 module
built onto the board. The project-based What's a Microcontroller? text and
parts kit is also included for only $79!
HomeWork
Board Project Platform
The HomeWork Board consists of a surface-mounted BASIC Stamp 2
microcontroller on a 3" x 4" printed circuit board. The board
includes a 9V battery clip, DB-9 connector and LM2943 regulator providing
50 mA for your projects. The HWB has no servo connectors, no LM2940
voltage regulator, and no 2.1 mm jack for wall power.
The intended use of the HomeWork Board is for BASIC Stamp microcontroller
projects. This 2 in 1 solution is available only in the Summer Special (or
for schools in 10 and 20 packs).
The HomeWork Board project platform also features 220 ohm resistors across
all BASIC Stamp I/O lines to provide additional protection against mis-wiring.
What's a Microcontroller? Text and Parts Kit
The What’s a Microcontroller? text answers the question “What’s a
Microcontroller?” by showing you how to design your own customized,
intelligent inventions using the BASIC Stamp 2 microcontroller. The
activities in this text incorporate a variety of fun and engaging
experiments that appeal to one's imagination using motion, light, sound,
and tactile feedback to introduce new concepts. These activities are
designed to introduce many basic principles in the fields of computer
programming, electricity and electronics, mathematics and physics. Many
of the activities facilitate a hands-on presentation of design practices
used by engineers and technicians in the creation of modern machines and
appliances using easy to obtain parts.
The What’s a Microcontroller? activity highlights include the following
which are all intended to enhance multisensory involvement:
Reaction
timer game
Potentiometer-controlled
servo
7-segment
LED light meter
Nokia Cell
Phone ringtone player
You'll learn how
to download PBASIC code to a BASIC Stamp module, build a circuit on a
breadboard, construct simple and advanced circuits with LEDs, a switch,
pushbuttons, and a servo motor. This text is designed to accommodate a
wide range of ages and skill levels.
